Frequently Asked Questions – What you need to know

When is the event?
The event is Saturday 17 September from 12-5pm.

Where is the event?
The event will be held at Carrum Downs Recreational Reserve, Wedge Road, Carrum Downs.

Is the event free to attend and do I need to book?
It is free to attend the Mayor’s Family Picnic, however there are costs to purchase items from the market and food and beverage stalls onsite. There are no bookings required to attend the event.

Where will I be able to park?
There is plenty of parking along Wedge Road and in surrounding streets. There is also limited parking onsite and at Oval 1. If you are local to the site we encourage you to leave the car at home and walk to the event.

Will there be any accessible parking?
There are a limited number of accessible car parking spaces available in front of the Carrum Downs Community pavilion. Entry is via Wedge Road, please have your accessible car parking sticker visible to parking attendants for entry.

What food and beverages will be available at the event?
There will be ice cream, coffee, burgers, twisted potatoes and more. This year we are also welcoming Dainton Brewery and That Spirited Lot Distillers to the event for our 18+ guests to enjoy. There will be plenty of options for everyone. You are also welcome to bring along a picnic lunch and blanket to the event. For a full list of food and beverage providers please click here.

Can I consume alcohol at this event?
We will have a selection of beer, wine and cider vendors in our food truck alley that you are able to purchase from. There is no BYO and liquor can only be consumed within the red line area by patrons 18 years or older.

Can I bring my dog to the event?
Dogs are permitted onsite provided they are effectively controlled by the owner by way of being on lead, dog owners are also required to carry a bag or similar to collect any dog waste. Service animals are also welcome.

Can I smoke at the event?
No. Smoking is not permitted within the event site or surrounding the event ovals.

Will there be an ATM onsite?
There will not be an ATM onsite, however the majority of vendors will have EFTPOS facilities. The nearest ATM is located at The Local Village, around the corner on Frankston- Dandenong Road.

What other facilities are on the site?
Toilets – There are permanent and temporary toilet facilities, including accessible toilets onsite.
Drinking water - There will be drinking fountains at the event, don’t forget to bring your reusable bottle to refill!
Baby care – We will have a parent pod available for all your parenting needs.
First Aid and Information – There will be first aid officers and event information stall available to assist with any questions or incidents onsite, located in the middle of the event.

What are the event accessibility features?
Council are making every effort to ensure our events are accessible and enjoyable for all. Please find a Social Script and Safe Travel Guide under the accessibility section of the website with a full breakdown of the features onsite, including a chill out space for any patrons who may feel overwhelmed or need a break from the event.

What activities will be at the event?
There will be plenty of free activities for all ages to enjoy. There will be market stalls from the operators behind the Sunset Twilight Market Series on the Frankston Foreshore. Giant bubble shows and workshops will entertain and delight, along with interactive playscapes and art. There will be face painting and an inflatable maze, along with an array of sporting activations, presented by Strong Sisters. What entertainment is on offer?
The Bandwagon and Acoustic Stages will be featuring live music all afternoon from a variety of artists. Performers include X –factor finalist Andrew Wishart, Sanctuary Duo and more! For all the details click here.

Will the event proceed if there is inclement weather?
In some inclement weather conditions, it may be necessary for aspects of the event to be modified. In extreme conditions, where it is deemed unsafe to continue, programming may be delayed or cancelled. You can keep up to date by following the Frankston City Council Facebook and Instagram pages.
